Lifts reopening: from fast queue-free lift passes to ski insurance by Telepass

Telepass ski pass

It is time for ski lifts to reopen this winter as well, but in 2021 it will not simply be a matter of restarting the cable cars and grooming the slopes. After nearly 2 years of hiatus and with the Covid pandemic still ongoing, skiing returns to the scene completely revamped in terms of how slopes are accessed and enjoyed.

While until this past summer many thought the issue of lift access would be insurmountable, we can now say that with the arrival of the first snow, ski resorts have successfully reorganized.

A major contribution comes from companies like Telepass, which have decided to put their technology at the service of ski resorts and create new ways of accessing the slopes that are more convenient, faster, and high-tech.

While for many in the past Telepass was simply a fast way through motorway toll booths, today its features have expanded and reached the world of skiing and ski lifts.

Two different subscription plans are available (TPlus and Telepass Pay X) that provide access to Telepass ski services, delivering up to 4 cards directly to your home valid across all participating ski areas so you can ski without queuing at the ticket office.

The cards are linked directly to the Telepass Pay or Telepass Pay X apps, where you can conveniently purchase the lift pass for your chosen ski destination.

The lift pass at the lowest price

The innovation lies not merely in having a single rechargeable card for every ski resort, but above all in the new, cost-effective payment formula: you will always pay the lowest rate based on your actual use of the lifts.

For those skiing with Telepass, at the end of the day the best rate offered by the ski area will be applied, as set out in the official price list published in the app and on the website, based on the actual times you access the lifts.

A practical example:

If you start skiing in the morning and stop before the afternoon because a sudden storm rolls in, you will only pay the cost equivalent to a morning pass.

This is a major advantage that you would not have when buying a lift pass at the ticket office. How often do we find ourselves facing the dilemma of whether to buy a morning pass, an afternoon pass, or a full-day pass?

Often people opt for a full-day pass, only to regret it later because slope or weather conditions are less than ideal and they call it a day early.

Telepass solves this problem by tracking how much you have actually skied and applying the most advantageous rate available in the ski area.

Ski Insurance

The new ski season also brings an important change: insurance will be required for anyone accessing the ski slopes. Starting in the new year, insurance will be mandatory in order to ski, and with Telepass you can purchase it conveniently right in the app.

With Telepass, TPlus, or Telepass Pay X, you can activate Ski Insurance even a moment before you start skiing, directly in the Telepass App.

There are two options:

  • Daily insurance at €2.50
  • Season insurance at €25

Saving time and money

Without a shadow of a doubt, saving time and handling everything conveniently via APP is a huge advantage; furthermore, at many ski resorts it will only be possible to purchase lift passes online through services like the one provided by Telepass.

This time, however, you can also save some money to put toward future ski days thanks to the “pay only when you use your lift pass” formula.

Last but not least is the option to include insurance and subscribe to the seasonal policy with broader coverage.

Definitely a lift access solution worth considering to get back on the right track and return to skiing in complete peace of mind and convenience.
