Amedeo Viviani has died: a great Italian rider leaves us

Young Amedeo Viviani passed away today at the first light of dawn. He was known to everyone in the snowboarding world as a great rider and a skilled snowboard instructor. He left us today after a terrible road accident.

The local papers report:

PREGANZIOL – A 27-year-old has died in a violent road accident. The tragedy happened yesterday morning shortly before 6 a.m. along the Terraglio.
A Ford Fiesta carrying two young men left the road and crashed into the small bridge at the entrance of a villa, near house number 287. The 27-year-old Amedeo Viviani (pictured), originally from Trieste, died instantly; the other young man, 29-year-old Roberto Schiavon from Carbonera, was taken to hospital but is not in serious condition.
The car apparently left the road on its own: no other vehicles appear to have been involved in the accident.
At the scene were the Suem ambulance and the traffic police, who carried out the accident investigation. The fire brigade was also present.
Amedeo Viviani had moved to Treviso a few years ago. He worked at Northwave and Drake, a company that makes snowboard boots and equipment. In the past he had worked for Benetton. He designed boots for the sport he had practised since childhood, achieving success at European level as well. He had also recently become a snowboard instructor.

Amedeo is one of the riders who helped make the film Snowlomites (the first snowboard movie made entirely in Italy with Italian riders).

We like to remember him like this, when he gave his very best on the board and left everyone open-mouthed.

R.I.P. Amedeo.
