Südtirol Gardenissima 2013, the longest giant slalom in the world

Gardenissima 2013

gardenissima 2013 Val Gardena – The long-awaited event for ski lovers returns for 2013 and, after 17 editions, remains the undisputed end-of-season highlight in Val Gardena.

Held every year between late March and early April, the Südtirol Gardenissima marks the closing of the winter season while also serving as a grueling ski competition, three to four times longer than a World Cup giant slalom. On April 6, competitors will race down the Gardenissima course over a distance of 6 km, covering a vertical drop of 1,033 meters and negotiating 115 gates.

One of the unique features of the Gardenissima is that it is open to everyone—both pros and amateurs—giving recreational skiers the chance to line up at the starting gate alongside past and present ski champions such as Marc Girardelli and Isolde Kostner.

How to register

You can register for the Gardenissima by filling out the online form at www.gardenissima.eu (a valid medical certificate and FISI membership card are required; the latter can be purchased during online registration). Every Südtirol Gardenissima participant will receive a race pack, which for this edition includes: Lorpen technical ski socks, a Paluani product, a “Val Venosta” apple, Blistex lip balm, Toko “IROX” liquid hot wax spray, and a can of Red Bull.

Prizes for the winners and more…

Special prizes will also be awarded to the oldest male and female finishers, the fastest foreign competitor, and the finisher who traveled the farthest. Finally, numerous raffle prizes will be drawn among all classified participants present at the awards ceremony, while the fastest competitors through a designated speed section will receive the Special Red Bull Prize (a special invitation to a Red Bull event).
