Oscar Wester wins the 2014 Nine Knights in Livigno

Yesterday (April 4, 2014) marked the conclusion of the fantastic Suzuki Nine Knights event, where the world’s best freeskiers went head-to-head on the snow of Livigno. Twenty international-caliber athletes showcased their skills on the 28-meter kicker, delighting the cheering crowd and the judges. A splendid sunny day accompanied the event at the Mottolino ski area, where Sweden’s Oscar Wester claimed first place, leaving 17-year-old Swiss skier Luca Schuler in second place and fellow Swede Jesper Tjäder in third.

Both Oscar Wester and Jesper Tjäder were competing in the Livigno Nine Knights for the first time. Wester said he was very pleased with the result, stating:
“This has been one of the best weeks of the year. We had so much fun on skis without any pressure on this incredible snow castle. I landed two new tricks, so I am really happy.”

Judge and pioneer of the sport Laurent Faivre (FRA): “Pairing older riders with the new generation is great; that way the athletes keep pushing to give their very best.”

“It is a hugely successful event – said Luca Moretti, president of APT Livigno – that reflects the spirit of Livigno as an active and cool resort. Nine Knights is an important showcase that takes us around the world through spectacular images. Having both a winter and a summer edition allows us to convey the message of an all-round destination”.

With an event followed worldwide, Livigno once again made sports headlines and won over audiences in all its beauty, proving to be not only one of the best Italian ski resorts, but one of the most important on the international scene.

It is hard to describe an event that leaves even casual viewers speechless—the images speak for themselves:
