On Saturday, March 30 and Sunday, March 31, the Breuil-Cervinia Valtournenche ski area becomes the snow-covered capital of mountain biking. Two days of events dedicated to knobby tires culminate in the Easter Cervinia Bike Snow Edition.
An Easter Sunday packed with pure adrenaline: the Breuil basin hosts the first all-snow downhill mountain bike race. In a one-of-a-kind setting beneath His Majesty the Matterhorn, this spectacular event sees top downhill champions compete alongside the many amateur riders who frequent the Cervino Bike Park during the summer.
Over 1,000 meters of vertical drop and more than 6 km of breathtaking descent are the standout features of this new challenge.
The “warm-up” kicks off on Saturday evening in the town of Cervinia, where a team of pros from the White Xperience club will put on a show on huge snow jumps specially built for the “1st Matterhorn Dirt Jump Contest.”
The following morning, the Cretaz and Pancheron chairlifts will carry competitors up to high altitude, while their bikes will be airlifted by helicopter.
At 8:30 AM, the race begins with a mass start, descending along ski slopes “26”, “4”, and “5” to finish at the Cretaz nursery slope in the town center.
Event schedule:
Saturday, March 30: from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM registration at the Cervino S.p.A. race office and number plate pickup – MTB drop-off and storage (in a guarded facility); from 9:00 PM exhibition by the White Xperience pro team.
Sunday, March 31: 7:00 AM competitors ascend from Cervinia by chairlift. 8:30 AM mass start; awards ceremony at 4:30 PM.
