This photo report was sent to us by Nicola Rossetto, who has been busy in recent days completing work on the new chairlift, now ready for the upcoming winter season.
The final stages of work were accompanied by the snowfalls of recent days, which dumped meters of snow on San Domenico!
Over 2 meters of fresh snow fell at 2400 meters, where the top station of the chairlift is located—so much snow in just a few days that staff, with Nicola on the front line, had to dig tunnels to recover machinery buried under the snow.
Scenes like these bring back memories of last season, which brought meters upon meters of snow to the Alps; so far this year only a few resorts have been so lucky, including Cervinia and the lesser-known San Domenico, where such events are actually right at home.
In fact, snow here is always plentiful right from early December, and the season continues smoothly until May.
