Ski lift closings

List of ski resorts set to close their lifts on April 14

Madonna di Campiglio ski lift closing

madonna di campiglio lift closuresFollowing last weekend’s lift closures across many ski resorts, another weekend of final runs awaits several Italian ski areas.
On April 6–7, many ski areas closed their doors in both the Alps and the Apennines, including Val di Fassa, the Sella Ronda ski-in/ski-out circuit, and the famous ski resort of Roccaraso, along with many others.
Weather conditions remain unsettled, with snow alternating with rain and interspersed with a few hours of sunshine brightening the snow-covered slopes; temperatures are also fluctuating constantly, although across most mountain areas above 1,500 m overnight temperatures still drop below freezing.
At high altitude there is no shortage of snow, and the glaciers continue to build up reserves ahead of summer: at 3,000 meters, snow depth exceeds 3 meters. Even so, ski resorts at medium-low elevations are not faring badly either, wrapping up the ski season with immaculate slopes.

Over the weekend of April 13–14, skiers will be able to enjoy the snow before the final seasonal closing of ski resorts such as:

  • Valtournenche (Aosta Valley)
    The Cervinia resort remains open
  • Courmayeur (slopes already closed, with a special weekend-only reopening on Saturday and Sunday)
  • Pila (Aosta Valley)
  • La Thuile (Aosta Valley)
  • Via Lattea (Piedmont)
  • Sauze d’Oulx (Piedmont)
  • Monterosa (slope closure, followed by lift openings for freeride only)
  • Piani di Bobbio (Lombardy)
  • Santa Caterina Valfurva (Lombardy)
  • Madesimo (Lombardy)
  • Maniva Ski (Lombardy)
  • Passo Resia (Alto Adige)
  • Plan de Corones (Alto Adige)
  • Val di Fiemme (Trentino)
  • Folgarida, Madonna di Campiglio, and Pinzolo (Trentino)
  • Cortina (valley lifts closing; Faloria open until May 1)

Some ski areas have not been listed because they have not ruled out special weekend reopenings in the coming weeks, such as several ski resorts in the Apennines (Monte Cimone, Cerreto Laghi, Corno alle Scale…)
