The famous ski resort in Trentino, nestled in the Brenta Dolomites, offers a ski area with 150 km of slopes linked with the nearby ski resorts of Pinzolo and Folgarida.
The rain that battered other areas and caused major disruptions over the Christmas holidays never reached here: in Madonna di Campiglio plenty of Snow fell both on the mountain and in town!
Right now there are around 180 cm on the Grostè (2,500 m) and 80 cm in town in Madonna di Campiglio (1,600 m)—late-winter conditions while the calendar reads only mid-January.
The fabulous snow conditions have brought huge crowds to the slopes of Campiglio, and the resort’s operations are in full swing, busy not only grooming the ski slopes for tourists but also hosting the Alpine Ski European Cup held on December 21 and 22, 2013 on the Pancugolo Miramonti slope.
Timed slalom at Grostè
One of this season’s new features is the timed run on the Grosté slope. All speed-loving skiers can challenge their friends on slope no. 63 “Cima Grosté”, a red run in the Grosté area alongside the Grosté Express 6-seater chairlift.
Anyone wishing to put themselves to the test can tackle the course and record their actual time thanks to an innovative timing system. You can clock your downhill time at a cost of € 1.50 per run.
Here are the specs of the course:
Length: 1,550 m
Vertical drop: 180 m
Maximum gradient: 30%
Average gradient: 18%
Lift serving the slope: Grosté Express 6-seater chairlift
It is also worth noting that Madonna di Campiglio has joined the “5 days at 50%” campaign organized by FISI: all members of the Italian Winter Sports Federation will be able to ski with a 50% discount on their ski pass on Saturday, March 29 and Sunday, March 30, 2014.
